For several years now, women in certain parts of the country (namely Texas) have gone to their plastic surgeons’ offices in hopes of looking like Ivanka Trump. However, with Trump’s presidency and First Lady Melania Trump in the public eye now more than ever, times are changing. The “Melania” is a popular procedure as a result – and not just in Texas, either.
Makeovers in the News
Melania is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful women of our time, and many would say (arguably) she’s the loveliest First Lady in history. With that in mind, women around the world are lining up to go under the knife. One woman’s journey was featured on the esteemed Inside Edition under the headline “Melania in the Making”, which indicates a process rather than a single surgery. The patient, Claudia Sierra, is a cancer survivor and mother who said she wanted to feel like her own First Lady. Per Sierra, Melania Trump is the epitome of power, strength, and in a way even courage, and that’s why her journey is so very important to her.
What the Procedure Entails
The “Melania” isn’t a set of procedures that’s the same for every patient. The procedures required differ from patient to patient based on individual wants, needs, and preferences. For example, Sierra had liposuction, a Brazilian butt lift, Botox, fillers, and a tummy tuck – all part of the “mommy makeover” designed to help women regain their pre-baby bodies. She also underwent revision rhinoplasty and breast reduction, which are two surgeries she’d had in the past, but wasn’t completely satisfied with. Those interested in watching her transformation can catch her story this fall on Inside Edition.
Why Do People Want to Look Like Celebrities?
For some, spending thousands of dollars and undergoing numerous procedures to look like a celebrity – and in this case, the First Lady – may seem silly. For others, though, the benefits are tremendous. Often, the individuals seeking the procedures look up to the celebrity in question. Claudia Sierra sees the traits she appreciates most in Melania Trump, and she feels that altering her appearance to emulate Melania will also help her channel those traits in her everyday life. This isn’t as uncommon as you’d think; people around the world have surgeries every day to resemble celebrities like Madonna, Channing Tatum, and even Mattel’s Barbie doll.
Will You look Just Like Melania?
While talented and experienced plastic surgeons can help patients alter their appearances significantly, matching someone’s appearance exactly is rather difficult. Melania’s close-set eyes, high cheekbones, toned body, and dimpled smile are things that can be mimicked to a degree, though patients should not expect to walk out of recovery looking exactly like the First Lady. Often, it takes several surgeries (and months of recovery) to achieve the desired look.
Throughout history, women have gone to great lengths to look like their “idols” and those they look up to. From childhood, little girls wear their mothers’ clothing, jewelry, and makeup to be like the women they look up to the most. The “Melania” is another example of the same notion; women who look up to the First Lady want to emulate her in actions and in appearance.
Ivanka Trump has been in the social spotlight since the day she was born. In fact, many people can remember her when she was just a child. Her father, president-elect Donald Trump, has enjoyed a lifetime of success in several business, media, and now political endeavors. It comes as no surprise that women are already starting to get plastic surgery to look just like her.
A Nightline Report
Recently, the television show Nightline featured two women – Tiffany Taylor, age 33, and Jenny Stuart, age 36 – who are spending tens of thousands of dollars to look just like the famed Ivanka Trump. Tiffany claims that Ivanka is her idol, and she’s had numerous surgeries to emulate her physical appearance. They include breast augmentation, cheek injections, eyelifts, liposuction, and rhinoplasty. Jenny had liposuction, a buttock lift, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, and rounds of facial fillers all against the wishes of her family.
Is This Common?
According to several prominent plastic surgeons, it isn’t uncommon for patients to come to their doctors and ask to look like their favorite celebrities. Social media is prevalent in today’s society, and these patients see images of their idols and other famous people every single day. As they continue to view them, they start to feel strongly about certain features. They may covet a celebrity’s eye shape or nose size, and they’re willing to go through surgery to obtain it for themselves. Tiffany Taylor certainly did, and she looks remarkably like Ivanka Trump today. She claims she sees perfection when she looks in the mirror.
The Right Expectations
Plastic surgery is elective, which means it isn’t medically necessary. Like any form of surgery or procedure, there are always some risks to consider – no matter how slight the chances might be. Plastic surgeons should work hard to set the right expectations with their patients. The goal of surgery should be to enhance a patient’s existing features by modifying another; not to modify the entire patient as a whole. Patients need to understand the limitations and risks, and surgeons should never make promises they can’t keep.
Is It Realistic?
Whether or not the desire to look like a celebrity, including Ivanka Trump, is realistic depends on a few different things. For example, if a woman who wants a breast augmentation comes in with a photograph of a celebrity she wants to mimic, there’s a very good chance that her surgeon can make her breasts look much like those in the photo. For facial surgeries, though, things get a little more complicated and that is where special training, skill and knowledge come into play. Only a few facial plastic surgeons nowadays have the capability to modify the bone and cartilage contour of the face to give it a more feminine and attractive appearance.
The number of people who want to look like Ivanka Trump is climbing, and this means that the number of plastic surgeries designed to provide that appearance is on the rise, too. However, this isn’t a new trend; people have been undergoing surgeries to look like celebrities for decades. The only trend that changes is the celebrity they want to look like.
Celebrities have influenced fashion and appearance for decades.
Now, thanks to social media and increased exposure, things have been taken a step further.
Kate Middleton and other celebrities are influencing plastic surgery trends (specifically rhinoplasty) in the western world.
Here’s everything you need to know:
Why Celebrity Influence is Changing Plastic Surgery
Magazines still exist—but their popularity is steadily decreasing. Flipping through search engine and Instagram pictures is a faster and more efficient way to look at pictures. People get to see celebs from all angles and in all shades of light. The also get the chance to compare themselves to celebs—placing equal sized images next to one another. This is a strong and powerful dynamic. Doctors are taking note.
Doctor Reports—Patients Walk Through the Door Knowing Exactly What They Want to Look Like
Doctors in the United Kingdom have reported that Kate Middleton’s nose has received much attention. People have noticed that it fits her face perfectly. Doctors say that she has an especially strong influence on younger girls. With a whopping 14% spike in rhinoplasty procedures over the past year, it’s becoming very clear that the “Kate Effect” is a powerful one.
3D Imaging Has Helped Surgeons Help Patients
The emergence of 3D printing has been a game changer. Doctors now have the never-before-seen ability to download patient pictures into a computer and compare them to celeb noses. In America, Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie, and Natalie Portman noses are particularly popular. Once a nose is chosen, advanced computer software and algorithms analyze facial features of the patient. The celeb nose is then adjusted to match those facial features. The end result is a nose that looks like a celeb’s and perfectly fits the patient.
Celeb Influence—What the Future Holds
It’s expected that celeb exposure will increase and plastic surgery trends will do the same. To what degree is unknown. With advanced computer and surgical technology, the sky is the limited. The question is more of a “when” than “if”. One of the key determinants will be the degree to which surgeons think technology can help the patient without driving costs through the roof.
Taking the above information into account, it’s important to realize that the nose you were born with might not be the right one. If you’re interested in making a change, please feel free to contact Mardirossian Facial Aesthetics. A consultation will be arranged and you will get the opportunity to discuss your new nose with our board-certified facial plastic surgeons.
Caitlyn Jenner has put the spotlight on the transgender community. She recently underwent a 10-hour facial feminization surgery (FFS) that gave her the appearance of her true self. Her surgery has shed light on FFS, and how it can be used to benefit transgender peoples. In addition, her surgeons have recently opened up and discussed the specifics of her surgery.
Here’re a few of the things they talked about:
The Importance of Caitlyn’s Brow Lift
Dr. Harrison Lee (Caitlyn’s chief surgeon) made note that, “Men tend to have a prominent brow bone, so you do a little bit of a brow lift, just to soften the image.”
A brow lift is one of the most popular—and important—procedures associated with FFS. It gives transgender patients a youthful, refreshed, and feminine look. The eyes are enlightened—which makes them look less worn, tired, and masculine.
The procedure is done by simply lifting the skin of the forehead to help the eyebrows rise naturally.
The Importance of Caitlyn’s Jaw Contouring
Dr. Lee also partially explained Caitlyn’s jaw contouring by saying,” We went inside her mouth and actually took off the outer portion of her jaw bone and softened it.”
Caitlyn’s jaw contouring was extremely important in helping her appear as her true self. One of the most masculine features of the face is the jawline. Men have square, masculine lower jaws that are unattractive on women.
A jaw contouring procedure—as Dr. Lee noted—helps soften the jawline, making it more feminine.
Caitlyn’s Post Surgical Experience and Fantastic Results
Caitlyn’s surgeons did state that she had some anxiety issues—which were treated with medication—following surgery. The reason for the anxiety issues is a bit surprising.
Dr. Atler—who was another one of Caitlyn’s surgeons—said,” “It’s difficult to suddenly get the realization that you’re getting the fulfillment of what you’ve always wanted to have done.” He also said the anxiety Caitlyn experienced is common, and can happen to anyone that undergoes a major change in their appearance.
After the initial anxiety went away, Caitlyn could enjoy her results.
Dr. Lee mentioned , ” She healed remarkably fast. Maybe because she’s an Olympic athlete… I mean, at 65, she is in remarkable health.”
In addition, he stated,” “I don’t want to show off, but I think she’s ecstatic with the results.”
Conclusion—What’s This Mean for You (and Other Potential FFS Patients)
Caitlyn’s procedure and results aren’t limited to the rich and famous. Facial feminization surgery is readily available and more affordable than ever. It’s a great way to achieve the look of your true self……the look you were supposed to be born with. Brow lift and jaw contouring aren’t the only two procedures that can benefit you. Palm Beach Plastics offers numerous FFS solutions. When you’re ready, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. At the time when Caitlyn Jenner’s new look appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair, it made the general public aware of an up-and-coming field of cosmetic surgery. Jenner’s new look consisted of a softer brow line, a reshaped nose and chin and gorgeous cheekbones, all of which fall under the category of facial feminization surgery (FFS).
Not Just for the Transgender Community
Although FFS was pioneered in the early 2000s to aid the gender transition process, it isn’t only the transgender community that is taking note of Jenner’s new look. Dr. Vartan Mardirossian, a Palm Beach plastic surgeon who specializes in this field noted, “Women saw that there were things that could be done that they didn’t know before. Take someone with a forehead that they consider too high or too prominent, for example. They don’t know there’s a surgical solution to it. Everything they know about facial plastic surgery is doing injectables or face lifts.”
Dr. Mardirossian performs anywhere between 40 and 60 facial feminization surgeries each year, with many patients coming from out of state – or even from other countries. Approximately one-third of the patients are women who were born female.
Celebrities are a Major Influence
A survey conducted by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery revealed that more than 80% of plastic surgeons said that celebrities were a major influence on patients’ decisions to have various forms of plastic surgery performed. Academy president Edwin Williams III said in this regard in a press release, “Due to the improving economy and increased consumer awareness, coupled with a growing comfort level with the safety and predictability of cosmetic treatments, we expect the demand for facial cosmetic procedures to continue to expand.”
Another aspect that has resulted in heightened levels of interest in FFS is advances that have been made in procedures like jaw and brow contouring, which involves surgeons re-shaping the facial bones completely. Dr. Mardirossian said, “Facial contouring is among the new frontiers of facial plastic surgery.”
Helping Patients Look More Attractive
Robert Sigal, a Northern Virginia plastic surgeon, says that as applied to women, facial feminization surgery is merely another name for something that cosmetic surgeons have always been doing – namely, helping patients look more attractive. He also mentioned that competition from dermatologists and family practice doctors administering filler injections like Restylane and Juvederm have encouraged plastic surgeons to push the boundaries of what they have done previously. His practice has also seen the biggest increase in using facial fat grafting to enhance feminine facial features over the past five years.
Although the initial preparation to become a plastic surgeon involves six years of training and residency in addition to medical school, the financial end results are highly rewarding. According to Salary.com, The annual median salary for plastic surgeons tops the $350,000 mark.
The best reward for Dr. Mardirossian and other surgeons is improving their patients’ lives, especially when performing procedures like FFS. “It increases confidence and may even save lives,” he said, referring to the high suicide rate among transgender individuals. “It’s really surgery for the soul.”
Plastic surgery procedures have become extremely popular over the past few years – especially in the celebrity world. Some of the most well-known stars who have had a variety of cosmetic surgery procedures performed over the years and who have been super thrilled with the results are mentioned below.
Known for her great acting skills in dozens of sitcoms and numerous movies, Aniston had her first rhinoplasty procedure done in order to repair her septum. After feeling dissatisfied with the end results of this procedure, she went on to have further surgery to narrow the bridge of her nose. Not only is she now completely satisfied with the end results now; it is virtually impossible for anyone to tell that she had any form of cosmetic surgery performed in the first place.
Montag has had numerous cosmetic procedures administered; among them breast augmentation and rhinoplasty almost a decade ago. A few years later, she went on to have multiple other procedures performed, including a chin reduction, eye brow lift, buttocks augmentation, ear pinning, a second nose surgery and liposuction on various parts of her body. This celebrity has admitted that she plans to continue having plastic surgery s she ages to ensure that she remains satisfied with her appearance.
Although Anderson first made her debut in the TV series Baywatch, she has since had her breasts enlarged even more. Not only has she been more than delighted with the end results of both procedures – her fans were literally over the moon when they saw her newly improved appearance. This has since encouraged her to have a facelift procedure performed as well.
Cher has been more than just a fashion and rock icon over the years; on many occasions, she has even been referred to as the “poster girl of plastic surgery.” Regardless of the fact that she is almost 70 years old, Cher shows little to no signs of stopping having plastic surgery performed. Although her list of procedures currently includes an array of breast enhancement procedures and rhinoplasty, it has been suggested that there are many more that have been performed.
Although numerous celebrities have been completely satisfied with their plastic surgeries, it is important to remember that in most cases, these procedures cannot be reversed once they have been performed. It is also essential to use the services of a plastic surgeon that is registered, board-certified and highly experienced in performing the procedure(s) that the patient wants to have carried out, as this will ensure the best results.
“I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me.” This was tweeted by Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) on June 1, after she was ready to let the world know she really was by revealing her true identity – the news first appeared on the front cover of the Vanity Fair magazine with a headline entitled, “Call me Caitlyn.”
A New Life
Caitlyn Jenner has been in the public eye for many years already – as Bruce Jenner. However, earlier this year, reports began emerging that he was in the process of becoming a woman. According to information contained in the magazine article, which was released on to newsstands earlier this month, the above mentioned tweet was posted on Jenner’s brand new account on the social network at around the same time the article was published in the magazine. Within the first few hours of being online, the account had already garnered the support of more than 1 million followers.
Embracing the Transformation Process
Before making her announcement to the world, Jenner underwent a 10 hour facial feminization operation as well as a breast augmentation procedure to help her through the transformation process. A reliable family source gave Radaronline.com the following statement regarding Caitlyn’s transformation process, “Caitlyn had the gender reassignment surgery after the Vanity Fair project was completed. Caitlyn didn’t want the focus of the story to be focused on the surgery, but instead on the journey of becoming a woman. Caitlyn also had some minor tweaks done cosmetically as well as around the chin and jaw line and has been recovering at her Malibu mansion.”
Overwhelming Support Received
After revealing herself to the world on June 1, Caitlyn received an overwhelming amount of support from across the globe. She has even been nominated to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPYs – this ceremony will be her first public appearance as Caitlyn. She stated the following in an interview with Hollywoodlife.com in this regard, “In the past few months, the overwhelming outpouring of support from all over the world for my journey has been incredible. However, being honored with this award, which is named after one of my heroes, is truly special. For the first time this July, I will be able to stand as my true self in front of my peers.”
A Remarkable Event
Caitlyn Jenner is going to be recognized for her bravery in the sporting world with the upcoming ESPYs; however, the best part of it is that all 10 of her children and stepchildren are going to be present on stage with her when she receives the award. Other notable celebrities who have embraced and welcomed her announcement with open arms include Kat Dennings, Anna Kendrick, Brad Goreski, Sam Smith and Ellen DeGeneres. DeGeneres stated, “My hope for the world is that we can all be as brave as Caitlyn Jenner.”
With to Caitlyn Jenner being strong and courageous enough to tell the world who she really is and how she feels about her gender transformation process, it is expected that more and more people out there will be willing to do the same as time goes on.
There has been much hype over the past few weeks with regards to the coming out of Caitlyn (previously Bruce) Jenner. Although there has been much media attention focused on her and her family at the moment, daughter Kylie has decided that she is going to continue on her quest to have further plastic surgery performed herself – in the form of a nose job or rhinoplasty as it is also known as.
Addicted to Plastic Surgery?
Although Kylie Jenner may only be 17 years old, the teen has already confessed that she has had quite a few cosmetic procedures performed over the years. These have included a range of temporary lip filler treatments and even a set of breast implants. However, according to information obtained from an insider who is quite close to the Keeping Up with the Kardashians TV star, it has been suggested that the bubbly teen is now considering having further cosmetic surgery in the form of a nose job performed as well.
Changing Her Appearance
The insider went on to mention to Radar Online that Kylie Jenner wants to have the bridge of her nose made smaller. “She’s completely paranoid about having the same nose as her mom, which in her mind is the worst nose in the family,” the insider was quoted as saying. Although some people may think that it is excessive or even over the top for a 17 year old to be thinking about plastic surgery procedures such as breast implants and nose reconstruction procedures, it has been noted that the teen has received the approval of her mom to enhance various aspects of her appearance.
Most stars and their families are well aware of how quickly rumors about aspects of their personal lives can circulate – and this teen is certainly no exception in this regard. Numerous rumors about the fact that Kylie may be 8 months pregnant were spreading because of the fact that her older sister Kendall had tweeted a message of congratulations to her and her beau, Tyga. However, the teen was quick to take to the ranks of Twitter herself to get everything set straight. On May 27, Kylie took to the social media network’s news feed to post the following message in this regard, “People been thinking I’m pregnant for 8 months now…. CLEARLY I’m not pregnant!”
Teens and Cosmetic Surgery
Although teens like Kylie Jenner may be having numerous forms of cosmetic surgery performed, this doesn’t mean that it is the right choice for everyone else as well. However, teens who are genuinely embarrassed about certain aspects of their appearances could benefit greatly by having them surgically altered – with parental blessings, of course. In fact, many teens who have done this have reported that their new looks have given them a level of confidence that they would otherwise not have been able to enjoy if they were feeling embarrassed about the way they look.
Teens who wish to have cosmetic surgery performed should ensure that they not only have the approval of their parents or guardians; they should also ensure that they are having it done because they truly want to have it done and not because their favorite star is going under the knife.
