Don’t Be Scared – Everyone Around You Is Doing It Too!

Thinking about having any form of cosmetic surgery or appearance enhancement procedures performed can cause many women to think that they are treading on forbidden territory – especially when it comes to Botox. However, more and more evidence is coming to light that the amount of women who are opting to have at least one Botox injection administered had increased substantially over the past few years.

Recent Statistics

According to statistics and figures that have been compiled by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) which covered the past three years, the amount of women who have at least one Botox injection performed has increased by between 8% and 10% year on year – resulting in more than six million women who have opted to have this form of cosmetic surgery performed each year. As a result, this has now become an industry that nets as much as $1.8 billion every year. In fact, stars like Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox and Kelly Ripa have been making use of Botox treatments for many years already to help ensure that they keep their appearances as young as possible.

Uses for Botox

Although many women only associate this treatment with lip enhancement, it has many other uses as well. These can include reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet around the eyes, doing away with frown lines, eliminating “bunny lines” from the nose, reducing the flare in the nostrils, lifting the corners of the mouth, lifting the eyebrows or even tightening the jaw line. In some cases, Botox injections are also used to help patients who suffer from migraines, incontinence and excessive perspiration in the underarm area of the body. It has also been used successfully to treat patients who are cross-eyed.

Safety Aspects

Having these injections administered is usually extremely safe – provided that they are given by a qualified, licensed and experienced plastic surgeon. Although allergic reaction have occurred in some patients afterwards, these are also rare. One of the most important points to remember is that these injections are by no means a permanent option for wrinkle reduction or other forms of treatment – in fact, they will normally need to be re-administered every five to eight months to ensure that the effects last as long as possible.

Botox Parties

Over the past few years, a new trend has surfaced which sees women hosting parties where these injections are administered to everyone present – often for a fraction of the cost of the fees charged by surgeons. However, this scenario should be avoided, as the people administering the injections at these events are usually not qualified or licensed surgeons, so there can be absolutely no recourse in the event of anything going wrong afterwards. In some cases, needles may even be re-used, which puts everyone at risk of developing infections or other complications.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with deciding to enhance your appearance with a few simple Botox injections. Not only is it more popular than you think; when administered by a qualified surgeon, it is also far safer than you realize.
