How to Fight Wrinkles Before They Happen

Fighting Wrinkles

Many people think that wrinkles are not only an inevitable part of life when they grow older, but that they can simply be dealt with when they start appearing. However, fine lines and crow’s feet need not even make an appearance on anyone’s face or neck areas, as they can actually be prevented. Below are a few steps that can be taken, which will help prevent them from even making an appearance in the first place.

Refrain from Smoking

Smoking not only deprives the skin and body of much-needed oxygen supplies; this awful habit happens to pump a minimum of 4,000 harmful and even carcinogenic (cancer-causing) chemical substances into the body with each cigarette that is smoked as well. The deprivation of oxygen in conjunction with the ingestion of these chemicals causes the skin to become dry, leathery and dull – especially around the eyes, lips and neck areas. Stopping smoking and spending as little time as possible in smoking environments and around people who do smoke will help keep the skin wrinkle-free for as long as possible.

Use Sunscreen Every Day

Many people are under the impression that sunscreen only needs to be worn on sunny days. This is not the case though, as many research studies have shown that UV rays can beat their highest concentrations on days that are partially cloudy or even completely overcast. As a result, a high quality sunscreen product with a UV protection factor of 15 or higher should be applied to the face and neck areas on a daily basis. If a moisturizer needs to be worn each day as well, consider purchasing a product that contains an SPF rating, as this will reduce the amount of skin care products that need to be applied each day. Sunglasses should also be worn when spending any time outdoors.

Consume a Healthy Diet

Although it is virtually impossible to consume a diet that consists only of organic foods, it is recommended that the consumption of sugar and other processed foods be kept to a minimum. A diet that is rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and organic meats will help ensure that the right amount of nutrients are delivered to the skin in order to keep it as healthy and free of fine lines for as long as possible. Drinking between 6 and 8 glasses of water each day will not only help keep the skin hydrated; it will flush many of the toxins from the body that contribute to aging and the development of wrinkles.

Other basic tips to help prevent the formation of facial wrinkles include not pursing the lips or stretching the skin in any way when applying cleansing and moisturizing products. Sleeping on the back as much as possible and using silk or satin pillowcases will also go a long way in helping to prevent the formation of wrinkles. Engaging in the above mentioned tips and advice will help ensure that the skin remains youthful for as long as possible.
