Why Drinking Copious Amounts of Water Every Day is Vital for Great Skin

Drinking Water

Many people think that reaching for a glass of iced tea; cup of coffee or fizzy drink will help quench their thirst. While this may be true to an extent, there is no better way to fulfill the body’s need for refreshment than by drinking water. Although water is largely known for its essential role in preventing dehydration, drinking copious amounts of this natural, refreshing – and often almost free – beverage is also known to promote the healthiest skin possible as well.

Flush Toxins from the Body

Water is the only beverage that is able to help flush unwanted waste products and toxins from the body’s organs. In many cases, a buildup of these toxins can result in the skin looking dull, pasty and lifeless. Although many skin breakouts occur largely as a result of hormonal imbalances, others can be attributed to an excessive buildup of toxins in the body. To successfully eliminate these toxins from the body and ensure that all of the internal organs are functioning as optimally as possible, it is recommended that a person drink approximately half of their body weight in ounces of pure water each day.

Rehydrate the Skin

Not nearly enough people realize that the skin is in fact the body’s largest, hardworking and most versatile organ. Not only does it protect the internal organs from injury; the skin also helps to keep the body’s internal moisture levels constant – provided that it is supplied with sufficient levels of fresh, clean drinking water each day. Drinking enough water each day will not only help rehydrate the body’s internal organs; it will also hydrate the skin. This will in turn prevent the onset of premature aging symptoms such as fine lines and wrinkles in the facial and neck areas. It will also go a long way in helping to prevent dryness and flakiness, especially during times of extreme heat or cold.

Consuming Enough Water to Promote Skin Health

Numerous people claim that it is a challenge for them to ensure that they drink enough water each day. However, there are a few easy ways to help ensure that the right amount of water is consumed. It is recommended that you fill a jug with water, place it on your desk and drink from it at regular intervals throughout the day. If your office has a water cooler, you can also bring a sports bottle along to work that can be filled up at regular intervals throughout the day. It is also recommended that you drink one to two glasses of water upon waking up and another one to two glasses before heading to bed.

If drinking plain water seems like too much of a chore, it can be flavored with lemon or lime wedges or even other fruit pieces such as strawberry, kiwi or mango. This will enable you to vary the taste a little without having to worry about added calories or unhealthy preservatives.
